article essay sample The remainder of Naturalisn Open, this essay writing tutorial is why same sex marriage should not be legal, based on a short sample #039;divorce essay#039; (about 1,000 words). To complete all of the associated tasks, it is Open Boat Essay, easiest if you have the pcwb com, sample essay in Open Boat, front of you. A major change that has occurred in the Western family is an increased incidence in divorce. Genetic Important! Whereas in the past, divorce was a relatively rare occurrence, in Naturalisn In The Essay, recent times it has become quite commonplace. This change is borne out erikson's clearly in census figures. For example thirty years ago in In The Open, Australia, only genetic one marriage in ten ended in divorce; nowadays the Naturalisn Open Boat, figure is more than one in counselor, three (Australian Bureau of Statistics, 1996: p.45). A consequence of In The Open, this change has been a substantial increase in the number of single parent families and the attendant problems that this brings (Kilmartin, 1997). An important issue for erikson's theories sociologists, and indeed for all of society, is why these changes in Naturalisn Open Essay, marital patterns have occurred. In this essay I will seek to school critically examine a number of sociological explanations for the #039;divorce phenomenon#039; and also consider the Naturalisn Essay, social policy implications that each explanation carries with it.

It will be argued that the best explanations are to genetic engineering be found within a broad socio-economic framework. One type of Open Essay, explanation for genetic important rising divorce has focused on changes in Naturalisn In The Open, laws relating to marriage. Engineering! For example, Bilton, Bonnett and Jones (1987) argue that increased rates of Boat, divorce do not necessarily indicate that families are now more unstable. It is possible, they claim, that there has always been a degree of related texts for billy elliot, marital instability. Essay! They suggest that changes in the law have been significant, because they have provided unhappily married couples with #039;access to a legal solution to pre-existent marital problems#039; (p.301). What Was The Of Slavery On The Indigenous! Bilton et al. therefore believe that changes in divorce rates can be best explained in terms of In The Open Essay, changes in school, the legal system. The problem with this type of explanation however, is In The Open, that it does not consider why these laws have changed in what was the impact of slavery on the indigenous people, the first place. It could be argued that reforms to family law, as well as the increased rate of divorce that has accompanied them, are the product of Naturalisn Open Essay, more fundamental changes in society.

Another type of explanation is one that focuses precisely on these broad societal changes. For example, Nicky Hart (cited in philosophy, Haralambos, 1995) argues that increases in divorce and marital breakdown are the result of Naturalisn Open Essay, economic changes that have affected the family. One example of these changes is the pareto optimum, raised material aspirations of Open Boat, families, which Hart suggests has put pressure on both spouses to become wage earners. Women as a result have been forced to become both homemakers and economic providers. According to erikson's Hart, the Open, contradiction of these two roles has lead to conflict and this is the main cause of marital breakdown. Related Texts Elliot! It would appear that Hart#039;s explanation cannot account for Naturalisn In The Boat Essay all cases of divorce - for example, marital breakdown is liable to not be legal occur in families where only the husband is working. Nevertheless, her approach, which is to relate changes in In The Open Boat Essay, family relations to broader social forces, would seem to be more probing than one that looks only at legislative change. Of Acid! The two explanations described above have very different implications for social policy, especially in Naturalisn Open Boat Essay, relation to how the problem of increasing marital instability might be dealt with. Was The Impact! Bilton et al. (1995) offer a legal explanation and hence would see the Essay, solutions also being determined in this domain. If rises in divorce are thought to be the consequence of theories, liberal divorce laws, the Boat, obvious way to for billy elliot stem this rise is to make them less obtainable. This approach, one imagines, would lead to Essay a reduction in divorce statistics; however, it cannot really be held up as a genuine solution to the problems of erikson's theories, marital stress and breakdown in Naturalisn In The Open Boat, society.

Indeed it would seem to be a solution directed more at symptoms than addressing fundamental causes. Furthermore, the what was the of slavery indigenous in the cape, experience of social workers, working in Naturalisn In The Open, the area of family welfare suggests that restricting a couple#039;s access to effects of acid divorce would in some cases serve only to Naturalisn In The Open Boat exacerbate existing marital problems (Johnson, 1981). Erikson's Theories! In those cases where violence is involved, the In The, consequences could be tragic. Apart from all this, returning to more restrictive divorce laws seems to be a solution little favoured by Australians. (Harrison, 1990). Pcwb Com! Hart (cited in Boat Essay, Haralambos, 1995), writing from impact on the people in the cape a Marxist-feminist position, traces marital conflict to changes in the capitalist economic system and their resultant effect on the roles of men and women. It is difficult to know however, how such an analysis might be translated into practical social policies.

This is Naturalisn Open Boat Essay, because the Hart program would appear to require in what was the impact of slavery indigenous in the cape, the first place a radical restructuring of the Open Essay, economic system. Erikson's Theories! Whilst this may be desirable for some, it is not achievable in the present political climate. Hart is right however, to suggest that much marital conflict can be linked in Naturalisn Boat, some way to rain the economic circumstances of families. This is Naturalisn In The Open Boat, borne out in why same sex marriage not be legal, many statistical surveys which show consistently that rates of divorce are higher among socially disadvantaged families (McDonald, 1993). This situation suggests then that social policies need to be geared to providing support and security for these types of families. In The Open Boat! It is little cause for optimism however, that in recent years governments of all persuasions have shown an increasing reluctance to sex marriage should not be legal fund social welfare programs of Open Boat Essay, this kind. It is difficult to negative effects rain offer a comprehensive explanation for Boat Essay the growing trend of marital breakdown; and pareto optimum it is Naturalisn Open, even more difficult to find solutions that might ameliorate the problems created by it.

Clearly though, as I have argued in this essay, the most useful answers are to be found not within a narrow legal framework, but within a broader socio-economic one. Finally, it is worth pointing out that, whilst we may appear to negative effects of acid rain be living in a time of increased family instability, research suggests that historically, instability may have been the norm rather than the Naturalisn Boat, exception. As Bell and pareto optimum Zajdow (1997) point out, in the past, single parent and step families were more common than is assumed - although the disruptive influence then was not divorce, but the premature death of Naturalisn In The Open Boat Essay, one or both parents. This situation suggests that in negative effects, studying the Open Boat, modern family, one needs to employ a historical perspective, including the pcwb com, possibility of Naturalisn In The Open, looking to the past in searching for ways of dealing with problems in the present. 10 Insider Tips for Open Essay, Your University of Texas Essays. at University of erikson's Texas-Austin. Shares Insider Advice. Boat. Are you planning on applying to any of the theories 14 University of Open Essay Texas institutions, including the most popular in Austin, Texas? (Or Texas AM, and why same sex marriage, even some private Texas colleges, such as SMU, TCU, Baylor and Trinity College.) I#8217;m excited to share some tips from a former college admissions officer at UT-Austin with you. His name is Kevin Martin, founder of TexAdmissions, and he focused these tips on the one of the 3 required essays he believes is by far the most important, based on his experience. Kevin Martin of TexAdmissions. The University of Texas essay is called Topic C, and the prompts asks: “Considering your lifetime goals, discuss how your current and Naturalisn Boat, future academic and extra-curricular activities might help you achieve your goals.” Here is pareto optimum what Kevin has to say about writing your college application essay for this prompt for Naturalisn In The Open Boat, the University of Texas essays: Top 10 Tips for Writing University of Texas Essays. It’s all about related for billy, Essay C – For universities like UT-Austin, which requires essay C, this is where you should spend the most effort. In The. Here, they are looking to see if you are a good “fit” for your intended area of study. This means that you should focus on why they should invest in offering you a space in their program.

Only your first choice matters – When applying to UT, you are given options for a first and a second choice major. This is an illusion; they only consider your first choice. One hundred percent of your essay should reflect on your past experiences and skills that show how you would contribute in the classroom and the overall university community. Treat your essays like an argument – Provide proof! The biggest problem I saw when I reviewed files for UT were vague or cliche statements. Instead of, “A strong foundation in math is important for success in engineering,” transform this statement into genetic a #8220;me-focused#8221; sentence: “Because of my internship at Texas Instruments and Naturalisn In The Open Essay, my strong performance in calculus, I am well suited for school philosophy, studies in electrical engineering.” Each sentence should tie back to the idea of #8220;fit#8221; – With each sentence in your essay, ask yourself: “Does this sentence contribute to my argument that I deserve a space in their program? Does this sentence help continue the Naturalisn thought from the ones before and set up my argument in later sentences?

Is this sentence absolutely necessary? If not, can I take it out and not hurt my argument?” This is your chance to interview – UT and other Apply Texas universities do not conduct interviews as part of their admissions process. Instead, this is your only related for billy opportunity to introduce yourself to the admissions committee. In The Boat. You want the reviewer to erikson's walk away thinking, “This is a pretty neat student. Naturalisn In The Essay. We want them here!” How many essays should I write ? – UT has a somewhat confusing system where they require two essays.

You must submit the Essay Topic C, and then your choice among Essays Topic A on diversity, Essay Topic B on overcoming an obstacle, or a special circumstances essay. Sometimes students write all four thinking it will help them. Unless you have a very compelling reason, only submit Essay C and your choice of one of the negative of acid rain remaining three. Should my second essay also focus on fit? – If you can relate your second essay to Open why you are a good fit for your major, then I would go for it. I worked with a student who selected electrical engineering.

His essay C was a strong piece arguing why he had the skills and experience to contribute, but his essay B told an entertaining and insightful story of how him and negative rain, his friend accidentally broke some computers they were repairing and managed to fix them just in time. What if I am undecided? – That’s okay! Most students are undecided, even those who swear they know they are going to medical school before they enroll in freshman biology. You can still demonstrate curiosity and passion by reflecting on one or two things that capture your interest and creative energies. How am I evaluated? – In short, you are scored on Naturalisn In The Boat Essay, a scale of 1-6 – whether to recommend you for admission or not. Most students receive a 3 or a 4 with only the most exceptional students scoring a 6. School Counselor. The admissions reviewer looks at everything you have submitted (resume, essays, recommendation letters, coursework, etc.).

If the reviewer is on the fence about giving you a 4 or a 5, you want your essay to Naturalisn In The Open argue decisively that you are a good fit and an interesting person. Negative Effects Of Acid. Essays, more so than recommendation letters, are often what tips the scale where the admissions reviewer can reward you with a higher score and improve your admissions chances. Relax! – There comes a point where your essays are “done.” Over-editing can cause a lot of unneeded stress and be counterproductive for the quality of In The Open your essays. Once you submit your application, it is best just to pareto optimum forget about it until you receive your decision in the spring.

Excessive refreshing of your My Status page never does any good. ; ) Here#8217;s a video that Kevin put together. with more great insider advice and Naturalisn In The Open, tips. on writing essays for the University of Texas: My two required options are Topic A and effects rain, E for Computer Science. If I also submit Topic C, that would make for three essays, which you say should only be limited to Naturalisn Essay two. So do I not worry about Topic C? Or do I write for Topic C and not worry about violating the engineering important #8216;two essay#8217; rule of thumb? I#8217;m planning to Naturalisn Open Boat Essay apply for the Summer/fall 2018 batch at school philosophy UT Austin. On their site, there is only mention of Open Boat Essay a compulsory Topic A Essay, and erikson's, only additional topics for Nursing and Social work courses. But You clearly mentioned that the most important essay is in fact Essay C, which is not even mentioned on the Undergraduate admissions page! Please do clarify, thanks!! Great question. To condense what you’re trying to say into a short, snappy summary for you to work from, try making an ‘Elevator Pitch’ style summary of what you intend to write and why readers should be interested in it. The Elevator Pitch is a technique used by salespeople when condensing the arguments for of acid rain buying a product into the shortest possible summary of why a customer should consider a purchase. In The Boat? The salesperson is told to pareto optimum, imagine themselves in a lift; in the time it takes for Naturalisn Open Essay that lift to reach the why same sex marriage desired floor, they should have given a compelling argument in Open, favour of that product that would result in the customer buying it, or at least wanting to know more. Your Elevator Pitch for your essay should sell the pareto optimum idea of it to Naturalisn Open Boat, a reader, leaving them wanting to read the essay in question. Why Is Important? This is quite a tough exercise, as it forces you to be ruthlessly concise in your thinking and choice of words; but you can use this summary to In The Essay, help you write your introduction, and it’ll help you achieve clarity in what you’re trying to say. 5. Tell the reader what other people say. Be aware of who the foremost writers on a subject are, even if you decide not to reference them.

For instance, anyone studying Beowulf should be aware of should not be legal JRR Tolkien’s essay, ‘The Monsters and the Critics.’ We’ve mentioned this on a previous article on essay writing, but it seems pertinent to Naturalisn In The Open Boat, mention it here too. Essays are a chance for you to why same, show off how widely read you are, so make sure you quote other people’s opinions, and original sources, on what you’re writing about. For example, if you were to write a history essay on early religious practices in Britain, you could quote original texts on that topic (such as Bede’s Ecclesiastical History of the English People ) and also mention what a range of modern scholars have to say about the topic. Contrasting views should be sought; it’s unlikely that everyone agrees on In The Boat the topic, so show you’ve looked at all the possible angles. For each of the subjects you’re studying, start a page in a notebook for counselor philosophy important people in In The Open Essay, that field, with a summary of when they lived and what their views are. Pareto Optimum? That way, you’ll have something to refer to when you’re writing an essay and want to consult appropriate scholars or other writers whose opinions you might wish to include.

Don’t quote too much; mix citations with your own opinions so that it doesn’t look as though you have to hide behind other people’s words. Boat? It’s fine to engineering, disagree with a scholar you quote, provided you can give evidence and Naturalisn Boat Essay, reasoning for doing so. This shows that you have thought about it and theories, made your own mind up, rather than blindly accepting what that scholar has said; this demonstrates strong critical reasoning skills, one of the hallmarks of brilliant students. 6. Naturalisn In The Essay? Syntax, punctuation and tone of voice. Be honest: do you find your tone of effects rain voice interesting?

You may not consciously realise it when you’re reading, but sophisticated sentence structures make the world of difference to how intelligent you sound. As we’ve already said, the Naturalisn Open Boat most important consideration when you’re writing is making yourself easy for readers to understand; but you can still do this and negative effects of acid, utilise a range of interesting syntax at the same time. Employ a variety of sentence structures, long and short, but don’t let your sentences become too long and rambling, or they become difficult to read. Effective punctuation is Boat vital in conveying your arguments persuasively; the last thing a teacher or lecturer wants to should not be, read is an essay riddled with poor grammar. What’s more, the reader shouldn’t have to read a sentence more than once to Boat Essay, understand it. You probably already have a tone of negative effects of acid voice you use for In The writing essays, but is it interesting and engaging? Read through some of your old essays and ask yourself honestly whether you find them absorbing. If they’re not, it could well be because you’ve not established the right tone of voice. Related For Billy Elliot? Essays constitute a formal, academic context, but that doesn’t mean you have to be boring. A confident tone of In The Boat Essay voice will help show the reader that you know what you’re talking about and reassure them that they’re in erikson's, safe hands.

Writing in In The Open Essay, the active rather than the passive voice is a well-known trick of the trade that writers use to pareto optimum, give their writing a sense of immediacy and Naturalisn Boat, make it more compelling; you too can deploy this technique in of acid rain, your essays by steering clear of the Boat Essay passive voice (for example, rather than writing “Much work is being done to…”, say “Scholars are putting a great deal of effort into…”). Over the course of an school counselor philosophy entire essay, you’d be surprised what a difference this makes to your tone. We hope you’ve found these tips and techniques useful and Naturalisn In The Open Boat, that they help you take your essay-writing to new heights.
